Germination
Sow indoors or under glass in spring. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Do not cover seed, simply press into the soil. Place in a propagator or seal in a plastic bag to maintain humidity. Ideal temp 18-21°C. Germination takes 3-4 weeks approx. After germination admit air. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on in cooler conditions. Acclimatise and plant out when danger of frost has passed.
Growing
Prefers any ordinary well-drained soil in full or partial sun. Ideal for container planting. Ideal spacing 60cm.
Cultivation
Pruning is not required. This plant may become invasive if planted in the border. To prevent this restrict the root run with a physical barrier or cut a slit trench around the crown of the plant with a spade each autumn. Propagate by seed or by division in spring.
