Germination
Can be sown under glass at any time for baby leaf. Can be sown directly in spring after the last frost, April is ideal. Sow into prepared soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow in rows 25cm apart or broadcast sow. Germination is rapid taking from 3 days. Plants will grow quickly. Keep well watered. Harvest young for use as baby leaf.
Growing
Prefers and moist soil in full or partial sun. 150cm is mature height. Harvest early for baby leaf.
Cultivation
Leaves are edible, but the tiny flower heads are why most people grow this plant. Just harvest the top 10cm of each flower stem(both leaves and flowers) and boil or steam. Harvest is possible within 7-8 weeks of sowing.
