Chopsuey Greens 'Shungiku'

Germination

Can be sown indoors or directly. Direct sowings may require cloche protection if the weather is very cold. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost, press the seeds gently into the soil and cover with a very fine sprinkling of soil. Cover container or planting area with glass or a plastic sheet. Germination takes 7-10 days. Once germinated remove the glass. Water lightly at first increasing water level as the plant grows. Successional sow for continuous supply.

Growing

Keep well watered in dry spells. Weed as required. Requires little attention.

Cultivation

Cut and come again variety. Harvest when the plants are 10-12cm tall, about 6 weeks after sowing. Harvest by cutting leaves with scissors as required. Allow a few plants to run to flowering as the flowers are pretty, white with yellow centres.
