Germination

Can be grown on a windowsill indoors over winter. For outside, sow directly, in rows, into well-drained prepared soil, one seed at a time. A one metre row should be sufficient to get started. Sow 6mm deep, 3cm spacing. Rows 60cm apart. Water in with a watering can with rose attachment. Germination takes 7 days.

Growing

When large enough to handle thin to 20cm, thinnings can be used in salads. Water well in dry weather.

Cultivation

If flea beetles are nibbling holes in your rocket cover the row with horticultural fleece. Pick regularly for tender leaves. Older leaves are tougher and hotter. Regular watering will delay bolting. Late summer sowings can be cropped through winter under cloches.
