Germination
Sow indoors at any time other than high summer. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Do not cover seed as light is needed for germination. Place in a propagator or seal in a plastic bag to maintain humidity. Ideal temp. 20°C. Germination takes 5-21 days approx. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed.
Growing
Prefers any well-drained ordinary soil in full or partial sun. Root rot may occur in poorly-drained soils. Water regularly until the plant is established. Wear long sleeves and gloves when pruning or handling the foliage to avoid skin irritation.
Cultivation
Will self-seed freely. Deadhead if you do not want volunteer seedlings next season. Propagate by seed or via cuttings.
