Germination
Sow indoors in spring, 12 weeks before last expected frost. Sow directly in late spring. Indoors, surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Do not cover the seed with soil. Place in darkness until germination. Ideal temp. 15-22°C. Germination takes 1-3 weeks approx. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to individual pots and grow on under glass or acclimatise and plant out in warm weather. Can be sown directly in late spring. Can be sown in Sept. and overwintered for flowering the following summer.
Growing
Prefers a cool, sunny position, ideally container planted with a rich, high in organic matter compost. Prefers a restricted root run. Prefers a well-drained soil. Will be killed by frost.
Cultivation
This is an annual plant. Pull and compost at the end of the flowering season. Propagate by seed.
