Germination
Sow indoors in spring, sow directly after danger of frost has passed. Indoors, surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Just cover seed with a sprinkling of soil. Ideal temp. 15-20°C. Germination takes 2-4 weeks approx. Once germinated grow on in cooler conditions, 15°C. Acclimatise and plant out in small clumps after danger of frost has passed. Directly, sow into prepared soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow several seeds together to create a small clump, sow 30mm deep and with a 60cm spacing.
Growing
Prefers a light, well-drained soil in full or partial sun. Seed head formation is improved in full sun. suitable for container planting.
Cultivation
Cut back old foliage in spring as new growth begins to emerge. Will self-seed freely.
