Germination
Sow indoors in spring, sow directly after danger of frost has passed. Indoors, surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Just cover seed with a sprinkling of soil. Ideal temp. 20°C. Germination takes 3 months approx. Once germinated grow on in cooler conditions, 15°C. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed. Directly, sow into prepared soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow 10mm deep and with a 20cm spacing, thin to a final spacing of 60cm.
Growing
This plant flourishes in the wild at very high altitude, on very poor soil and in very poor growing conditions. It prefers a poor soil and is unlikely to do well in a rich soil. Prefers a dry soil in full sun.
Cultivation
Requires little attention. Propagate by division in spring.
