Germination

Sow indoors Jan-Apr. Sow 5mm deep into moist well-drained seed compost. Ideal temp. 15-20°C. Germination takes up to 14 days. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to other trays with 5cm spacing. Acclimatise and plant out once danger of frost has passed with 30cm spacing. Can be sown directly Apr-June. Sow 5mm deep into finely prepared, well-drained soil in a seed bed. Thin to 5cm spacing before moving to final position in autumn with 30cm spacing.

Growing

Prefers and cool, moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade.

Cultivation

Trim after flowering to keep plants compact and to encourage a second flowering.
