Germination

Sow indoors Mar-Apr. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost. Just cover seed with a sprinkling of compost. Ideal temp. 22°C. Germination takes 10-14 days approx. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to individual pots and grow on. Use as an indoor or greenhouse plant or plant out when danger of frost has passed and min. temp. is +5°C. Will be easily killed by frosts.

Growing

Grow under glass in a loam based compost in bright light. Pot up annually in spring. Grow outdoors in humus-rich moist but well-drained soil, enriched with well rotted manure. Provide a sheltered frost-free situation. Can be used as summer bedding, a greenhouse plant or an indoor pot plant.

Cultivation

Pinch off shoots and flower stalks to encourage leaf growth.
