Germination
Sow indoors in spring before last expected frost. Sow directly after last expected frost. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost or prepared soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Just cover seed with a sprinkling of soil. Ideal temp. 15-22°C. Most seedlings will germinate in 1-4 weeks but germination will be erratic and could take up to 12 weeks for some varieties. If indoor sown acclimatise and plant out seedlings when well grown and after danger of frost has passed.
Growing
Easily grown in any well-drained soil in full or partial sun. Water when dry. Requires little attention.
Cultivation
Many varieties enclosed will self-seed freely. Seed may be harvested at the end of the growing season. These plants will be cut down by frost. Pull and compost at the end of the season.
