Germination
Sow directly. Sow 2-3 weeks before the last expected frost date. Sow 10mm deep in rows 60cm apart with 30cm spacing between seeds. Ideal temp. 15-18°C. Germination takes 10-14 days. Successional sow every 2 weeks for continuous supply.
Growing
Prefers moist, well-drained fertile soil in full sun. Water during dry periods 1-2 times per week. Fertilise if desired 1-2 times per season. If weather turns cold unexpectedly offer cloche protection.
Cultivation
All parts of the fennel plant can be harvested. Harvest leaves at any time. Harvest bulb when it reaches the size of a tennis ball, or larger. Pull alternate bulbs to allow remaining plants more space. Frost hardy. Can be invasive if allowed to set seed.
