Germination

Tuber forming. The seed will benefit from scarifying, gently file the seeds then soak for 24-48 hours until swelling is noticeable. Sow seeds into a soil based compost and cover to their own depth with compost or grit. Propagate 18-22°C for 2-4 weeks. Then cold stratify -4-+4°C for 4-6 weeks. Move to 5-12°C for germination. Germination can be very slow, 2-3 months or much longer, these seeds may wait until spring until they emerge. When large enough to handle transplant to 8cm pots. Pinch out the growing tip when the plant is 7cm to encourage side shoots. Plant out when danger of frost has passed.

Growing

Water regularly until established. Once established requires little attention. Needs to be above 2°C temp.

Cultivation

This plant is vigorous. It will require extensive cutting back, especially in a greenhouse. It can grow up to 15M with ideal conditions. Eventually invasive.
