Sow
Germination
Sow under glass from April. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost. Do not allow to dry out. Germination can be slow and erratic but usually occurs within a month. Plant out in the summer, but if the plant is small or the weather cold keep under glass and plant out the following spring/summer.
Growing
Prefers a moderately fertile well-drained, preferably alkaline soil, in full sun.
Cultivation
Harvest leaves just before the plant comes into flower or from 15cm height. Regular pinching out and harvesting ensures further supply of leaves and promotes a stronger, bushier plant. Leaves can be used fresh or dried. Cut back woody growth in spring.
