Germination

Sow indoors. Sow2mm deep into moist well-drained seed compost. Ideal temp. 15-18°C. Germination takes 7-14 days. When large enough to handle transplant seedlings to 8cm pots. Grow on in cooler conditions, 10-13°C. Acclimatise and plant out once danger of frost has passed with 45cm spacing. Can be sown directly, where they are to flower. Sow into a drill 3mm deep and thin to 45cm spacing.

Growing

Prefers an open sunny position in any ordinary soil which is fast draining. Water regularly during the growing season but keep drier in winter.

Cultivation

Deadhead flowers after blooming to maintain plant vigour. Cuttings can be taken for propagation.
