Germination
Sow indoors. Surface sow onto lightly firmed, moist well-drained seed compost. Press seeds into the soil but do not cover. Light is needed for germination. Propagate 18-20°C. Germination can be slow and erratic taking many weeks. Transplant seedlings once large enough to handle to 15cm pots. Acclimatise and plant out once danger of frost has passed.
Growing
Will grow in any soil in any situation. Can be invasive so restrict root run. Pinch out growing tips of young plant to encourage bushiness and vigorous growth. Water in dry weather.
Cultivation
Cut back regularly to encourage new growth and to prevent flowering (if growing for leaf production). Will die back to ground level in winter. Divide plants every 3 years to maintain plant vigour. Top dress with compost in autumn.
