Germination

Sow indoors. Sow onto moist well-drained seed compost. Just cover the seed with soil or vermiculite and gently firm down. Seal in a polythene bag or propagate. Ideal temp. 16-21°C. Germination takes 21-35 days approx. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on in cooler conditions. Acclimatise and plant out once danger of frost has passed with 30cm spacing. Can be sown directly with varying results.

Growing

Needs a well-drained soil in full sun to flower well. Can be container grown. Very easy to grow.

Cultivation

Deadhead regularly to extend the flowering window. In warmer areas where they can be perennial lift and divide every two years.
