Germination
Sow indoors. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost. Just cover with a fine sprinkling of soil. Light is needed for germination. Propagate or seal in a polythene bag. Ideal temp. 18-20°C. Germination takes 14-21 days. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on in cooler conditions. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed.
Growing
Prefers any ordinary cool, moist but well-drained soil. If your soil is acid add a little lime prior to planting out. Will require a frame on which to climb. Can be pot grown and placed in a greenhouse or conservatory. Requires a minimum winter temp. of 5-7°C. Water well and feed occasionally.
Cultivation
Will be cut down by frost. To overwinter bring indoors to a cool, frost free place in autumn and keep moist.
