Germination
Best sown directly Feb-Jun. Sow into prepared soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Ideal temp. 18-20°C. Thin seedlings to 5cm spacing. Can be sown indoors, surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Just cover seed with vermiculite. Propagate 18-21°C. Germination takes 14-21 days approx. When seedlings appear admit air. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on. Acclimatise and plant out once danger of frost has passed. Autumn sowing will flower the next year.
Growing
Prefers a well-drained soil in full sun. Ideal for dry or chalky areas or wall planting. Can tolerate partial shade.
Cultivation
Cut back after flowering to encourage healthy foliage and repeat blooms. Do not prune in autumn. Remove damaged foliage in spring. Propagate by division every 1-3 years.
