Germination
Sow indoors. Sow Jan-Mar. for 1st year flowering, Apr-Aug. for flowering the following year. Sow 2mm deep into moist, well-drained seed compost. Cover with a sprinkling of vermiculite. Propagate or place in a polythene bag to keep the moisture level constant. Ideal temp. 18-21°C. Avoid direct sunlight. Germination takes 14-21 days approx. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 10cm pots and grow on at 10°C. Pot on if required or acclimatise and plant out with 30-60cm spacing.
Growing
Prefers a fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. May require staking in exposed situations.
Cultivation
Cut back after flowering. Deadheading will extend the flowering window. Will self-seed freely if you do not deadhead.
