Germination
Sow indoors in spring, sow directly late spring. Indoors, surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Ideal temp 10-15°C. Keep moist. Germination takes 10-14 days. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed. Directly sow into prepared soil after danger of frost has passed. Thin seedlings as required.
Growing
Prefers any well drained soil in full sun. Requires little attention. Will be cut down by frost.
Cultivation
Requires little attention. If seedheads are allowed to dry on the plant seed may be collected and stored for use next season. Annual plant which may be pulled and composted at the end of the season.
