Germination
Sow directly or indoors in early spring. Directly sow 5mm deep into prepared soil which has been raked to a fine tilth and compacted. Keep moist until germination occurs. Indoors, sow 5mm deep into moist, well-drained seed compost. Place in a propagator or cover with a sheet of glass. Ideal temp. 18-20°C. Once germinated admit air. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed.
Growing
Prefers any ordinary soil which is well-drained in full sun. May take a couple of years to establish but once established requires little attention.
Cultivation
May self-seed in ideal growing conditions. Cut back in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges. Propagate by seed.
