Germination

Sow indoors at any time. Prior to sowing soak seeds for 48 hours in warm water. Drain. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Do not cover seeds, simply press into the soil. Place in a propagator or sealed polythene bag to maintain humidity. Ideal temp. 20-22°C. Place in bright, filtered light. Germination can be erratic. Once germinated transplant individual seedlings to 10cm pots and grow on.

Growing

Best grown as a house plant in the UK. Prefers a loam-based compost in bright filtered light. Avoid direct sunlight. Can be grown outside in warmer areas in a well-drained soil where there is no risk of frost.

Cultivation

Propagate by seed or semi-hardwood cuttings. Pruning group 1. Generally requires little pruning, except for the removal of unhealthy, dead or damaged shoots in late winter or early spring.
