Germination

Sow indoors prior to last frost, sow directly after last frost. Prior to sowing soak the seed in warm water for 30 minutes. The seeds should swell, plant immediately before the seed dries out. Sow 3mm deep into moist well-drained seed compost. Ideal temp. 18-22°C. Germination takes 7-21 days. For indoor sowings transplant seedlings when large enough to handle 8cm pots and grow on. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed.

Growing

This is a tropical plant that requires full sun and plenty of warmth. Prefers a poor soil with good drainage. Do not overwater. Feed rarely with mild fertiliser if desired. This is a climbing plant and will require a frame on which to climb.

Cultivation

Deadhead if you do not wish to self-seed.
