Germination

Sow indoors. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Do not cover seed. Cover seed tray with a sheet of glass or propagate. Ideal temp. 15-20°C. Light is needed for germination. Keep moist. Germination takes 40-60 days approx. When seedlings start to emerge admit air. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed.

Growing

Prefers a moist but well-drained lime free soil in a sheltered position in full sun. Unless you live in a sheltered frost-free area container plant and bring inside for winter.

Cultivation

Pruning group 8. Requires very little pruning except for the removal of dead or damaged shoots in mid-spring.
