Germination
Sow directly. Sow 6mm deep and 30cm apart into well prepared soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Lightly cover seeds and keep moist. Germination takes 10-12 days but will vary depending on weather. Thin to 25cm spacing. Can be sown into pots in autumn, place pots in a cold frame to overwinter, transplant seedlings in spring.
Growing
Prefers a medium to light, ideally sandy, moderately fertile soil in a warm, sunny site. The plant will become more green and will spread more quickly with increased nitrogen but flower quality may suffer.
Cultivation
Requires little attention.
