Germination
Sow indoors in early spring. Sow directly in late spring after danger of frost has passed. Sow 2mm deep into moist, well-drained seed compost, or directly into prepared soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Ideal temp. 16-20°C. Germination takes 1-4 weeks approx. Indoor sowings should be grown on under glass, acclimatised and planted out after danger of frost has passed. Direct sown seedlings may be thinned as required.
Growing
Prefers any moist but well-drained soil in full or partial sun. Easy to grow. Water when the soil is dry.
Cultivation
Deadhead or harvest flower heads as required. Prompt removal of flower heads will encourage further blooms. Many varieties will self-seed. Most varieties are annuals and will be cut down by frost.
