Germination
Prior to sowing scarify or chip seed coating then soak seeds in water for 3-4 days. Change water daily. Sow indoors. Sow 25mm deep into moist compost or vermiculite. Propagate or place somewhere warm with constant temp. 20-25°C. Germination can take from several weeks to 12 months. Do not give up. Once seedlings are large enough to handle transplant to 8cm pots and grow on.
Growing
Requires heated glass min 5°C. In loam based compost with shade from hot sun. Can be tried outside in a frost free area in full sun. Water every 1-3 days. Fertilise once a month.
Cultivation
Remove dead leaves, cutting no lower than the base of each leaf blade. Outdoor plants need winter protection. Wrap trunk or cover whole plant with a blanket.
