Germination
Sow indoors. Sow onto moist well-drained seed compost. Cover lightly with vermiculite. Ideal temp. 18-22°C. Germination takes 21-28 days but can be erratic. Once seedlings are large enough to handle transplant to 8cm pots. Acclimatise and plant out once danger of frost has passed with 50cm spacing.
Growing
Prefers a fertile soil with plenty of organic matter in full sun or light shade. Do not allow soil to dry out. May require staking in exposed situations.
Cultivation
Deadhead spent flowers to encourage further flowering. Remove any dead or damages foliage in spring. Lift and divide plant every 3 years to maintain vigour. Divide in spring or autumn.
