Germination

Sow indoors in late winter-spring. Sow directly in spring after danger of frost has passed. Indoors, surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Just cover seed with a sprinkling of soil. Place in a propagator or pop in a clear plastic bag to maintain humidity. Ideal temp. 15-20°C. Germination takes 2-3 weeks approx. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed.

Growing

Prefers any ordinary, well-drained soil in full sun. Will tolerate partial sun. Easy to care for.

Cultivation

Will self-seed freely. Will spread by rhizomes. Cut back to ground level in late autumn after flowering ceases. Can be grown as an annual.
