Germination
Sow under glass in spring. Sow 1mm deep into moist, well-drained seed compost. Ideal temp. 16-18°C. Germination takes 30-42 days approx. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed.
Growing
Prefers a humus-rich, fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full or partial shade. Offer a winter mulch for protection in cold/exposed areas. Water well when in growth. If the plant gets too hot and dry in summer it will enter dormancy.
Cultivation
Remove old leaves after flowering. Will self-seed freely in ideal growing conditions. Propagate by division after flowering ceases every 3-5 years.
