Germination

Sow in a cold frame from late summer to late spring. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Just cover seed with a sprinkling of soil or vermiculite. Germination varies on temp. As a guide germination takes 2-3 weeks at 18°C. Keep moist. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed.

Growing

Ideal for container planting outside or as a house plant. Prefers a bright, sunny situation. Prefers a humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil. For improved flowering apply a fertiliser and mulch in late winter or spring.

Cultivation

Prune at the end of the dormant period. Remove up to 1/2 of the previous years growth. Deadhead regularly to extend the flowering window.
