Germination

Sow directly. Best sown in rows with 2cm seed spacing into well prepared soil which has been raked to a fine tilth and watered prior to sowing seed. Seed should be just covered with soil. Ideal temp. 16-18°C. Germination takes 15 days approx. Only water if the soil is dry. When seedlings have 2 true leaves thin out to 25cm spacing. Thinnings can be carefully transplanted elsewhere. Can be started early under glass if desired.

Growing

Prefers any well-drained soil in full sun. Easy to grow. Weed as required. Fertilise during flower production.

Cultivation

Cut flowers when they are fully open. Plunge cut flowers into deep water to minimise stress prior to arranging. To dry simply hang upside down.
