Germination

Sow directly. Sow onto well prepared soil which has been raked to a fine tilth and is in a sunny position. Rake the seeds gently into the soil, but do not cover with more than 6mm of soil as light is needed for germination. Ideal temp. 20°C. Germination takes 10-90 days depending on conditions. Even under ideal conditions germination can be erratic. Thin to preferred spacing. Can be sown indoors Mar-Apr. if desired.

Growing

Prefers any soil in full sun. Very easy to care for. Grows well in gravel.

Cultivation

Will self-seed freely. Remove seedheads if you do not want volunteer seedlings. Unlike many grasses this is not difficult to maintain, roots are shallow and unwanted plants can be easily removed.
