Germination
Sow indoors at any time. Best sown directly Mar-May or in autumn. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Cover the seed to its own depth with soil. Ideal temp. 20°C for 2-4 weeks then cold stratify. Move to 4°C for 5-6 weeks then return to warmth for germination. If sown directly natural winter cold will offer ideal conditions for germination to occur as the weather warms in spring. Indoor seedlings can be transplanted when large enough to handle to 8cm pots. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed.
Growing
Prefers a moist soil in partial sun. Will tolerate dry conditions and both full sun and full shade.
Cultivation
Will self-seed freely. Deadhead if you do not want volunteer seedlings.
