Germination
Sow indoors. Sow 1mm deep into moist well-drained seed compost. Ideal temp. 18-22°C for 2-4 weeks then cold stratify. Move to -4-+4°C for 4-6 weeks then return to warmth 5-12°C. Germination is slow. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots. Grow on in the greenhouse for the first year. Plant out in spring with 50cm spacing.
Growing
Prefers moist well-drained soil in full sun. Requires little attention.
Cultivation
Divide plants in late summer after the plant dies down.
