Germination

Sow indoors. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost. Cover lightly with vermiculite. Propagate 20°C. Germination takes 14-21 days. Do not exclude light as this aids germination. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots. Acclimatise and plant out once danger of frost has passed with 45cm spacing. Can be sown directly in autumn, however germination may be erratic.

Growing

Ideally soil will have been prepared and raked to a fine tilth prior to planting out. Requires little attention. Fertilise if preferred with a high nitrogen feed.

Cultivation

An annual or short lived Perennial. Once the plant is established divide in spring if required.
