Germination
For best results sow directly in spring. Indoors, surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost. Press seeds lightly into the soil cover with 5mm soil as darkness is needed for germination. Ideal temp. 15-20°C. Germination takes 4-30 days. Germination can be erratic. Once seedlings are large enough to handle prick out to 25cm spacing. Directly, sow where they are to flower after danger of frost has passed. Under glass, sow in Sep. for overwintering and germination the following spring as the weather warms.
Growing
Will grow in any soil in full or partial sun. Water a little until established. Requires little attention. If left alone will create a blanket of flowers.
Cultivation
A biennial plant which self-seeds freely so appears as a perennial. Pull up plants once flowering has finished to restrict spread.
