Germination

Select a sowing site which is not highly fertile and does not have a problem with perennial weeds. Sow direct. Surface broadcast sow onto bare ground. Do not cover the seed. If ground is prone to winter flooding sow in spring/summer once the land has drained. The seeds supplied are sufficient to cover 1-2 square metres.

Growing

Prefers and ordinary soil which is wet. Ideal for the wet margins or ponds, streams, rivers and ditches. In the first year weed growth should be cut back to encourage perennial ground cover. Sites prone to flooding can have patchy growth and may take several years to colonise.

Cultivation

Between Sep-Nov. cut back and remove short sections of vegetation in rotation every 2-3 years. This will ensure variation in structure and variety. Larger sites can be grazed by cattle or horses.
