Germination
Sow indoors in spring. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost. Do not cover as light is needed for germination. Water from the base only. Propagate 18-20°C. Germination takes 18-21 days. Germination can be slow and erratic, do not discard seed tray too early. Once germination occurs move to 15°C. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots, avoid handling the roots. Acclimatise and plant out once danger of frost has passed with 30cm spacing. Sow directly in April. Surface sow, cover with a sprinkling of soil. Thin to final spacing of 30cm.
Growing
Prefers a well-drained soil in full sun. Do not over water in the early stages. Requires little attention.
Cultivation
Requires little attention. Cold weather will kill the plant. You can treat as an annual and compost after flowering ceases or container plant and bring inside to protect from winter cold. Cuttings may also be taken to insure against winter loss.
