Germination
Best sown directly in spring or autumn. Surface sow onto well prepared soil. Cover with a fine layer of soil. Should germinate rapidly, if not allow cold winter weather to aid germination which should occur as the weather warms the following spring. Ideal spacing 100cm.
Growing
Prefers a well-drained soil in full or partial sun. Happy in any ordinary soil, even if nutritionally poor.
Cultivation
Cotton Thistle can spread rapidly. Each plant produces up to 40,000 seeds. Will self sow freely, to prevent this deadhead before seed is set or hoe out seedlings when young.
