Germination

Sow directly or under glass at any time. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Just cover seed with a sprinkling of soil. Ideal temp. 10-20°C. Germination at 20°C is rapid, slower at lower temps. Taking 2 weeks-6 months. Germination can be erratic. If germination does not occur a period of cold may be required, indoors, cold stratify at -4-+4°C for 2-4 weeks, a fridge is ideal, then return to warmth. Direct sowings may need to overwinter and should emerge the following spring.

Growing

Prefers any moist soil in full or partial sun. A woodland, riverside or damp meadow is ideal. In ideal conditions this plant may spread enthusiastically, if you wish to limit spread we recommend container planting.

Cultivation

Requires little attention. Propagate by seed or division in spring.
